NOW is a fantastic time to invest and immerse yourself in a creative environment with a like-minded community! I'm a firm believer in building those up around me and my true hope is that each attendee will walk away feeling encouraged, inspired, capable and ready to tackle what's in front them with confidence from the newfound skills and support received while at the workshop.

Together with the immensely talented and experienced Ro + Co Events and Honeycomb Affair, I am proud to present a two day workshop hosted in the heart of Los Angeles. The workshop will cover topics regarding the business of wedding photography, as well as the art of wedding photography. We'll cover how to scale your business, how to be profitable in a saturated market, excellence in client management, curating a portfolio you're proud of aimed at your ideal clientele and the necessary tools for building relationships with both clients and vendors in the wedding industry. There will be a focus on taking a deep dive into goal setting and mapping out what the next steps for your business look like.

We'll also be covering film basics, what it looks like to incorporate film on the wedding day, what the post workflow looks like with film, emphasis on styling details and how to shoot with intention, as well as scouting a new location to find the best locations for meaningful images. We will be working with both a client couple (ie - a real couple!) on day 1 and a model couple on day 2, which means you'll get two different types of content and see how I work with a true couple to nail posing.

You will NOT walk away feeling like it was not worth your while, because we have so many different areas of the wedding photography business that will be covered. Don't miss out -- limited spots available!

Who is a good fit for this workshop?
I like to think this workshop is a great fit for most people and I have great hopes for everyone who attends. this workshop will be geared toward:
• the part-time photographer who is looking to take it to the next level and launch their business full-time and wants to understand the mechanics of what it takes to do so
• the experienced photographer who has nailed their art, but feels like they've got a lot to learn with regard to the business of photography, navigating difficult client situations and how to scale their business
• the photographer who needs to be inspired, feel supported and carve some time out to invest in their business as a way to elevate their brand
• the photographer who wants to learn how to shoot film, but doesn't know how or where to start
• the photographer who is local to southern california or the out-of-town photographer who is looking for an intensive retreat to the city of angels for an immersive photography experience

what if i don't have a film camera, but I want to learn how to shoot film?
we will have a few additional film cameras on hand (one medium format and one 35mm). for anyone who wants to try shooting film, they will be available for use and sharing (I just ask you be very careful!). You can always look at renting a film camera specifically for the workshop, as well. Also note: if you are not a film photographer and you DON't want to shoot film, you can still attend the workshop

what food will be included?
lunch, snacks and dinner on the second night will be provided. dinner on the first night and breakfast both days will be on your own.

Where should I stay if i'm not local?
we are happy to provide recommendations of hotels and general areas to look at (and avoid!). Airbnb is always such a great option in los angeles, and I would encourage attendees to coordinate and find a place to stay together.

how much film should i bring?
on the low end, you should anticipate 12 rolls; on the high end, you can anticipate 40 rolls. each attendee will receive a few rolls of film as part of their workshop swag bag.

what rights will i have to the images i take at the workshop?
you will have the rights to use them wherever you want, they will just need to have proper credit provided to them and each attendees will be asked to hold off on publication submission until the images from Jessica rieke have been published.

will it be difficult to get the shots I want?
the goal of the workshop is to be meaningful, inspiring and worth your while. which means that it will not be an overly large group of attendees vying for the same shot. smaller groups and stations will be formed to ensure it's not overwhelming.

what should I wear?
on day 1, come prepared to look your best and bring any tools to touch yourself up, because I will be taking photos of each of the attendees. this is my gift to you to use on your social media, blog.... whatever you want. later that day though, we will be out shooting a client couple (aka - NOT models) and we will likely be hiking a bit, so wear something comfortable and closed toed shoes that you're ok with getting a little dirty! on day 2, this will be a photoshoot day, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing you can move around easily in (think about what you would wear when you shoot a wedding -- just doesn't need to be as professional/dressy). reach out if you have any further questions on this and what you should wear for your headshot!

will there be any 1-1 time to ask questions and review portfolios?
yes! there will be time slated to receive 1-1 time with me to discuss the state of your business and chat about what's next. i'm an open book and happy to help answer any questions whether that be during the 1-1 time or during the workshop in its entirety.

what do I need to bring to the workshop?
camera/lenses/camera bag. notebook/pen. positive attitude and open heart.

there are really specific questions i have that i'd really love to discuss as a group -- can I tell you that ahead of time?
Yes! if you have anything you're specifically struggling with or want insight about from the larger group as a whole, please submit to me ahead of time so we can incorporate this into the workshop.

What is the cancellation policy?
registration to the workshop is non-refundable; however, it can be transferred to another attendee.

I feel like i'd just attend on day or the other, not both days. Is there a way for me to do that?
Yes! If you'd prefer to attend just one day or the other, there are rates specific to each day. Inquire to learn more. It's encouraged to attend both days.
